“What began with “Stained Glass Blue” came to maturity with the 1983 work I would come to title “The Ascending Colors”. During this time, I was learning how to use color and gradation to compose recognizable forms, as well as abstract and metaphoric expressions. In an effort to explain this work to myself and others, this learning process lead to my defining this process of painting as “Technical Abstraction”, and the picture elements I used as “Ascending Colors”. In time, the larger body of work came to be know as “The Ascending Color Medium”. The works on this page, with one exception, were completed prior to December 1984 and were included in The Art Show, my first and largest public showings.
