“This painting remains a bit of a personal mystery to me. If I recall correctly, this was the last work I did before moving the “studio” to Manasquan for the summer of 1983. Phil and I had a late night in the city that week. Something about a dark and smokey bar scene, with various female forms. There was a reason I spelled “Nitelife” that way, but I can’t recall it. I even signed it differently. A less than deliberate example of Active Randomness.”
