“This was originally paired with “The Victory Parade”. I had intended to include an element that would have given both titles a greater context, however with “Modes” I found myself struggling with a discipline I was trying to impose on myself. I needed to make a move to a purer form of technical abstraction and, at least for now, felt I should forgo the inclusion of any surreal of illustrative elements. Those elements are present in “Pieces of Eight” and “A Better View”. I sat with this dilemma for hours before deciding I was happy with the composition as it was. The title remained.”
